Sulfuric acid is one of the most active binary inorganic strong acids, which can react with most metals. High-concentration sulfuric acid has strong water absorption and can be used as a dehydrating agent, carbonized wood, paper, cotton and linen fabrics and biological skins and other carbohydrate-containing substances. When mixed with water, it also releases a lot of heat energy. It is highly corrosive and oxidizing, so use it with caution. It is an important industrial raw material that can be used to make fertilizers, drugs, explosives, pigments, detergents, batteries, etc. It is also widely used in industries such as oil purification, metal smelting, and dyes. Often used as a chemical reagent, it can be used as a dehydrating agent and sulfonating agent in organic synthesis.

Sulfuric acid (alternative spelling sulphuric acid), also known as vitriol, is a mineral acid composed of the elements sulfur, oxygen and hydrogen, with molecular formula H2SO4. It is a colorless, odorless, and viscous liquid that is soluble in water and is synthesized in reactions that are highly exothermic. Its corrosiveness can be mainly ascribed to its strong acidic nature, and, if at a high concentration, its dehydrating and oxidizing properties. It is also hygroscopic, readily absorbing water vapour from the air. Upon contact, sulfuric acid can cause severe chemical burns and even secondary thermal burns; it is very dangerous even at lower concentrations.

1.sulfuric acid is used to produce fertilizers, particularly superphosphates, ammonium phosphate and ammonium sulfates.
2.sulfuric acid is used in the chemical industry for the production of detergents, synthetic resins, dyestuffs, pharmaceuticals, petroleum catalysts, insecticides and antifreeze, as well as in various processes such as oil well acidizing, aluminium reduction, paper sizing, water treatment.
3.sulfuric acid is used in pigments and includes paints, enamels, printing inks, coated fabrics and paper.
4.sulfuric acid is also used in the production of explosives, cellophane, acetate and viscose textiles, lubricants, non-ferrous metals, and batteries.
Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from combustible substances. Keep container tightly closed when not in use. Do not store near alkaline or organic substances. Store in a cool place away from heated areas, sparks and flame. Do not add any other material to the container.
Do not store in a damp atmosphere. Do not get in eyes, on the skin or on clothing. Do not allow smoking and food consumption while handling. Handle in accordance with good storage and handling practices. Do not store near flammable substances. Wash thoroughly after handling.
